Bucher Family Fun

The other night Daniel, JoAnn and I went over to Daniel's brother's house and JoAnn got to play with some of her cousins. It was so fun to see JoAnn playing with them and to see how they enjoyed playing with her. These are a few pictures I took of Eli and JoAnn. Eli was born 8 days after JoAnn. This first picture made me laugh because it looks like JoAnn is towering over Eli. In reality she was standing on something.

This is their actual height differnce. Ryan was trying to make them smile and Eli totally started laughing right away and JoAnn was a little more shy. They both seem to be daddy kids.

Doesn't he have beautiful blue eyes.

So long, where to start?

It has been a very long time since I have put anything up, mainly because I have been so busy and haven't really had much time to sit down and write. I hardly know where to start, but I will give it a shot...

Well, when I took JoAnn in for her 15 month check up, her allergies had been really bad and it had bothered her asthma. So for the second time the doctor wanted to put her on steroids to clear up her lungs. That sort of shocked me into being more diligent about her allergies and breathing. To be put on steroids for the second time and only be 15 months old is actually quite a lot. The good thing was that only one dose of the steriods cleared it all up and I have been able to keep her from getting bad again. Hopefully, I can keep this up and not forget as much to give her allergy medicine every morning and every night. Which you would think wouldn't be hard to remember since I have to take mine at the same time too. Go figure.

Not long after I had JoAnn back to being healthy, my mysterious rash started to come back pretty strong. I never seem to get rid of it, but it does seem to get really bad every so often, then I get put on a new medicine to try to help and it starts to get a little better for a few weeks until it gets totally out of control again. I don't know if I am just really getting sick of it and can't handle it as well, or if the totally out of control stage gets worse everytime but it is really starting to make me miserable. Anyway, after a couple days of being completely miserable I talked to one of my doctors again, who mentioned to Daniel and I that maybe we should consider coming back to the US a few weeks early and try to get into a dermatologist there. (I had been to a few different dermatologists in the Philippines since moving there and have thought none of them were worth the $6 appointment. They just didn't seem to know much about eczema or if they did they refused to write a perscription for something they didn't sell in their office.) Daniel and I talked about it and decided that we would go ahead and get some of the blood tests that had been suggested, we would also try one more dermatologist in the Philippines and at the same time we would change our tickets to come home two weeks earlier. So that meant I had one week to get everything I was going to do in 3 weeks done and add to that a couple doctor appoinments. But on the up side of things, it also means we will be home for Thanksgiving as well as Christmas.

Anyway, I went to see a new doctor who thought it was all my eczema that had flared and gotten a bacterial infection. So, I went in for all my tests and then started a semi-strong antibiotic. The antibiotic ended up being just like everything else I tried. It helped a little, mainly because I did have some secondary infections, but then stopped way short of actually clearing up the rash. I have to say though, until it started to help a little I had told Daniel I wasn't sure I was going to be able to travel half way around the world feeling like I did, so I was very glad it helped even if it didn't clear it all up.

A few days after I saw the dermatologist, I took one of my Filipino friends to Divisoria to do some Christmas shopping. Divisoria is one of my favorite places to go shopping in the Philippines. There is absolutely nothing like it in the US. It is a gigantic outdoor/indoor market. They have seriously anything I could think of and it is much cheaper than anywhere else I go, even when they give me the "rich" white person price. Since it was getting closer to Christmas it was pretty crowded and I tried to get a picture to help discribe what it is like there, but my camera battery was dead. This is a picture I found on the internet of where we went. This is an alley near Tutuban (the pink building in the background), which is one of the indoor markets we went to. I seriously could walk all day along the streets without doing any shopping and not even see all of Divisoria. It is huge and everywhere you go is about as crowded as this alley.

After doing my Christmas shopping, I went back to get my lab tests results and so far all of the tests say I am completely normal except I had a high score on a test that was for a non-specific inflamation or infection...that helps a lot. Then a couple days later, Daniel, JoAnn and I boarded a plane to head back to the States.

We got to Indiana on Thursday afternoon and let me just tell you the trip seemed ETERNAL. We all got up and got ready to leave for the airport at 2:30 AM Manila time and arrived at Daniel's parents' house at 2:30 PM EST. That means we were traveling for 23 hours and only arrived 12 hours after we left.

JoAnn did wonderful on the trip, except she did exactly what she did last year on the trip over, which is not sleep. I think she slept somewhere between 2 and 3 hours the entire trip. Daniel and I were exhausted from trying to keep her entertained the entire time. Although, the big winners that kept her attention the most were the headphones they pass out to watch the movies with and her sippy cup. I don't know why I even try to bring toys.

These two pictures were taken in the Manila airport while we were waiting for our first flight. I had wanted to take more pictures of the trip, but the truth is I was just too tired to even think about trying to find my camera in the what seemed like huge carry-on bag.

Notice the way too short pants that JoAnn has on...that is because she is so stinkin' skinny and tall. If the pants fit at the waist, they are about 3 inches too short and if they are long enough, they literally fall off her. We definitely felt out of place with her running around the Detroit airport without a coat and in what looked like capris.

Last night after we got back we were able to see all of our neices and our nephew on Daniel's side of the family. I was a little out of it at that point so I didn't get any pictures of the kids playing together, but I will hopefully get some in the next few days. I can't believe how old they are all getting and it is so fun to watch JoAnn have some kids to play with. I am really looking forward to the next few weeks we have in the States.

Another check up

Alright, I just had to share this bit of information. Yesterday, I took JoAnn to the doctor for her 15 month check-up and I knew that she had grown a lot since her first birthday, but no clue she grew nearly as much as she did. In three months she had grown 8 cm (or about 2 1/3 inches) and 1 kg (or 2.2 lbs). That brings her up to 33 inches tall and 19 lbs. The doctor said that is the average height of a 2 year old and the weight of a 9 month old. No wonder she only wears 6-9 month clothes!

Babysitting

Last Saturday I babysat Baby Seth for our friends and it was so cute to see JoAnn with him. She wanted to be next to him the whole time he was at our place. I was a little afraid that she might be jealous, but she did wonderful and despite Daniel's fears that she would crush him, she was great around him. However, in the middle of the night I felt like she had turned into the newborn. She woke up around 2:30 and was up until about 4. I could not figure out what was wrong. She hadn't woken up like that for a long time. The next day I figured out what I think was the problem...She was getting two new teeth. Then on Monday, I found another new tooth and on Tuesday I found yet another new tooth. That means she was getting 4 new teeth all at the same time and one of them is a molar, which makes my mouth hurt just thinking about having a molar break through for the first time. That brings the grand total of teeth to 8. She might not be toothless for the rest of her life after all.

***********************************************************************************

This is probably one of the funniest things I have seen in a long time. This morning JoAnn was giving me a horrible time while I was trying to get her to eat breakfast. She barely ate anything before she grabbed her milk and wouldn't take any food. So, I took the chance to get myself some tea and take my vitamins. I had my back to her for maybe a minute, two tops and this is how I found her when I turned around. She had totally fallen asleep. She hasn't been sleeping well at night since she started getting her teeth and I guess it started to catch up with her.

Learning how to eat

I just had to share this picture from lunch today. Recently I have been trying to help JoAnn learn how to use a spoon and fork and being her independent little self she insisted on doing it completely by herself today. It was actually quite funny once I got over the idea of having to clean up after her. She couldn't seem to understand that once she got some food on her spoon if she turned it over the food would fall off. So, she would get the food on the spoon and as she was putting it up to her mouth she would end up turning it upside down and loose everything on the spoon. After a couple attempts, she would get really frustrated and put the spoon down to use her hands for a few bites. Then she would start all over again with the spoon. It was so cute that I had to take a picture and as I turned around to get the camera, she somehow decided that she should put her foot on the table. I don't know, maybe she thought that would help her.

Computers, bananas, and termites

So none of these pictures really go together, but they are all some cute things I have seen JoAnn do in the last couple days...

If there is a will, there is a way. That is definitely the philosophy JoAnn seems to have with life. After I wouldn't let her sit on my lap and play with the computer while I was checking my email, I went to the kitchen to put something away and came out to find her playing with it all by herself. We now either have to keep the chair pushed up against the desk so she can't climb on it or move the computer in order for her to not play with it.

This one cracks me up because there is a lady who babysits JoAnn sometimes and she always talks about her eating bananas, which she NEVER does for me. Then the other day I went to visit one of our friend's new baby and while I was there JoAnn stole a banana from one of their older kids and ate the whole thing. So, being my stubborn self, I was determined I would get her to eat a banana for me. I figured out the only way to get her to eat it was with the peel on. Not sure why, but hey whatever works. I was so excited she actually was eating it that I just had to take a picture and it wasn't until after I took the picture I realized she really wasn't eating the banana, but the peel. She is just a little strange.

These two pictures were taken Tuesday night while we were kicked out of our house for a few hours. A while ago my helper was showing me an area where some termites had started eating the wood in JoAnn's room, well actually in the bathroom connected to her room. I didn't really like the fact they were there, but I had no idea how to get rid of them so I kept putting it off. Then they started moving out of the bathroom and into her room. That is when I decided I couldn't put it off any longer. So two guys came in and did a great job of getting rid of them. It was pretty impressive how fast they ripped out the bad wood, treated everything, put up the new plywood and painted it. I was totally expecting it to take a couple days, but they were in and out in less than a day and they even swept up the floors before they left! It was great. Next time I won't wait so long.

Anyway, I thought these pictures from dinner that night were pretty funny. I like Daniel's face in the first one and how JoAnn wouldn't pose for us in either of the pictures.

Insomnia

Well there really isn't much for me to write about right now, but I am a little bored since it is 5 AM and I can't sleep. I have been having trouble with insomnia lately, largely due to the fact that I have been having some strange skin problems and was put on Prednisone. In some ways the Prednisone is wonderful since I have felt like I have a jogging suit filled with itching powder on all day and the steroids seem to help a lot with that, but now I have not had a good night sleep in days. Even worse, the doctors I have been talking to don't know what is going on with me and you can't stay on Prednisone very long without some other major side effects. That means that over the next few days while I am weaning off the steroids and waiting for the next step the itch will be back. I am not sure if I am dreading the itch or looking forward to sleeping again more. I know I shouldn't really let it effect me too much, but it is just difficult to be in a good mood when you itch like that and can't do much about it. I have had allergy/eczema/asthma problems my whole life and I have always prayed that somehow God would help them not be as bad or even take them away either supernaturally or through medicine. Lately, though, I have learned that sometimes He just doesn't work like that and that there are far worse health problems I could have. So, my prayer has changed to also include asking Him to help me not to allow this to dictate my personality and to help me be the person He wants me to be bringing glory to Him dispite my circumstances, whether good, bad or just somewhere in the middle.
I have been reading a blog by one of the parents of a student I had for the first two years while I was teaching at Faith and it has definitely helped me in keeping my perspective. The girl's father has been having a lot of health problems over the last year while they were in the States and no one was able to give him an answer as to why things were happening, until they went to the Mayo Clinic a few months ago. There they found out that he has an extremely rare type of cancer, some form of lymphoma. It sounds like it is awful and they have been told that the Mayo Clinic has only seen something like 5 cases of it before him. Here is the name of the blog his wife is keeping if you would like to read more, she does a much better job of explaining the medical side of things than I could, www.garylphillips.blogspot.com. They are a neat family and have been serving as missionaries in the Philippines for many years.
The other thing I have been learning through this is that God has truly blessed Daniel and I with so much. I look at some of the Filipino people we see at the Arthur Center and know that if this were one of them having this issue, there would be no medical help since they would not be able to afford it financially. God has really used so many people to help provide for us and I could not be more thankful even just for a clean house to be able to come home to and a running shower with warm water. I can't imagine dealing with this and living in some of the conditions that are all too common here.

Amazing

Sometimes I watch JoAnn and I am just amazed at how she is turning out to be her own little person. I have been wanting kids my whole life and have wondered many times what they would turn out to be like. So watching JoAnn grow up is answering so many of my questions.

In so many ways she is exactly like me. There are little things I see, both good and bad. Things like she loves to "solve" problems. She is very curious about the way things work and what they are for. She constantly takes things apart and then puts them back together just to see if she can do it. She also very much has my temper, which I have to say is really not what I was hoping for. Once one thing doesn't go how she wants, she gets upset at everything, big or small.

There are also so many things I see that she got from Daniel as well. She definitely got his personality in which she is extremely shy and quiet everywhere execpt home and with anyone she doesn't really know. She also got his coordination. It is this that amazes me more than anything especially when you combine it with her problem solving nature. She is able to get into things and climb onto things that I never would have thought of. She has even figured out how to stack her toys in order to stand on them and reach things that she wouldn't be able to otherwise. I was checking my email just this morning and heard the chair at the table being pushed across the floor (one of her favorite things to do lately) and then it got really quiet. So of course, suspecting something was up, I turned around and found her standing on the chair that she had pulled out far enough from the table to climb up on. It was pretty cute, but I am now terrified. Once she realizes that she is able to use the chair to climb up onto other things, like she does with her toys, she will be able to reach almost anything in the house. It also terrifies me because I have found her standing on the chair many more times today and she is starting to see if she can get them to rock back and forth like the recliner we have that she has also figured out how to get up on using the foot stool. I am just waiting to hear the crash of her knocking over the chair while standing on it. I love the fact that she is so coordinated, but I am finding it difficult to explain to a 14 month-old how dangerous some of the things are that she does.

Our night without JoAnn

On Thursday Daniel and I left JoAnn with a neighbor and had a night out. His buddy, Kirk, gave him two tickets to game 2 of the UAAP finals. Sounds interesting right...well, Ateneo was playing De La Salle, their rivals and the finals are the best two out of three. Ateneo won the first game, meaning if they won the second game they won it all. So it was a big game for them and Daniel was so excited that Kirk had the chance to be a part of it. Right before we left, I got a lecture from Daniel about how I needed to wear something that showed I was chearing for Ateneo. I told him I was sure it really wasn't that big of a deal, but would wear it if it made him feel better. By the time we got to our seats, I was so glad Daniel had me change. It turns out that Kirk's parents had him offer his two really good tickets meant for them to someone else and he gave those to Daniel. We were literally first row right behind the Ateneo bench.
The view from our seats....
The game was a pretty intense game and Ateneo ended up winning. We had a lot of fun. I tried to get a video of the end on my camera, so I could show people what it sounds like to be at the game, but the sound quality on my camera isn't the greatest and it just sounds like static. These games are so loud its crazy.

After the game we went for our Taco Bell dinner and headed home. This arena is a pretty good distance from where we live, so in order to get there we always take the train and on the way back we realized that the walk from the train station to our car was going to be interesting. I guess we haven't gotten used to the rain here yet. Sometime during the game the typhoon that was in the area brought a lot of rain and it was pouring by the time we got back. Of course neither of us brought an umbrella since it was sunny and clear when we left. Usually I wouldn't even think twice, but there is no parking at the train station, so we had to park probably 1/2 mile away. We got soaked by the time we got to our car. Then to make it worse, our car's windshield wippers don't work and the roads were really flooded. It was quite an interesting trip home, but we had a great time going out by ourselves.

Maraming Pictures

That's Tagalog for many pictures and that is exactly what this post is full of. Daniel's parents just left last night to go back home after spending 10 days here with us. It was so much fun and so many things happened, I don't even know where to start and I am sure I am going to leave many stories out. They arrived early Wednesday morning and we spent Wednesday through Sunday catching up, playing with JoAnn, checking out the Arthur Center, visiting Tanza (one of the other places where the food from the shipment is being used) and Daniel and his dad were also able to check out the golf course across the street from where we live.

This was from when we went to Tanza. We had to cross a stream/mini river in order to get to where the church is located. Here is how it went for Dad...
Getting started...

Halfway there....

Wait, I'm missing something...

Fortunately, we had an extra pair of sandals in the car since Daniel had his sandals completely fall apart the last time he was there and we were going to return the pair he borrowed. It seems like Tanza is just not a good place for sandals.

Sunday after church, we showed Daniel's parents one of our favorite places in the Philippines...Boracay. It is a beautiful little island in central Philippines with the prettiest white sand beaches. We had a great time soaking in the sun, eating all we could eat at the breakfast and dinner buffets, golfing (well not JoAnn and I), playing in the sand/ocean and hanging out at the pool. JoAnn absolutely LOVED the ocean and the pool. Starting from the airport waiting to leave here are a few pictures of our time there.

She absolutely hated wearing the hat.
And I think she thought the sand tasted good.

Checking out the waves with Daniel.

JoAnn figured out how to use a straw for the first time while we were there. It really made life much easier not having to bring a sippy cup everytime we went somewhere.
When the guys weren't off playing golf one morning, Mom and I managed to sneek away and get our nails done. The pedicure wasn't really the brightest idea though since as soon as you step out of the shop you are walking on sand, but it was still fun.
Notice I am standing one step below Mom and I am still the same height. : )

Here are a few more random pictures.

As always it was a great time that went by way too fast. We loved having them here and JoAnn loved having some more time to spend with Grandma and Grandpa.

Random tidbits for the week

So, I really meant to be better about putting stories and pictures up than I am right now. The only reason I say that is because I already forget some of the stories behind these pictures, but I will do my best to accurately tell them.

Our neighbors right now are remodeling their place and let's just say they are not making friends very well with the parents of small children that live near them. They just finished week 3 of ripping out old tile and/or cement and the noise is so loud. I have to admit that sometime last week I was totally convicted of my attitude towards them. I kept getting so frustrated that JoAnn can't sleep with all the noise that I forgot I should be thankful that we have such a nice place. In all seriousness running water, electricity and a ceiling that doesn't leak is considered luxury for many people in the world and I shouldn't take it for granted. Back to the story, since JoAnn can't really sleep with all the noise, every time we go somewhere during nap time she comes with us and sleeps in the car and/or stroller. I forget which day it was but Daniel and I went somewhere during JoAnn's afternoon nap and she feel asleep in the car. So when we got back I asked Daniel to just lay her in her crib and see if she could sleep a little longer. When I went to go get her up later I noticed Daniel had forgotten to take her shoes off. I think I thought it was even more funny that it happened to be her favorite pair, the Crocs.

One of the many nice side effects of a sleep deprived one year old is that they just don't eat well. So, instead of fighting with her to get her to eat, I have been letting her drink her bottle while she plays. Again, I don't remember which night it was, but instead of playing JoAnn decided it would be fun to sit underneath the table in a place where we couldn't get to her without moving the table or the highchair and drink her bottle. Weird, I know.

Last strange picture...
She woke up really early the other morning and wouldn't go back to sleep unless she laid on the couch with Daniel. I guess she was really tired because he got up without her noticing and somehow she ended up sleeping like this. I would think that would hurt your back.

Yet another cute story

This story is from a couple days ago, but I thought it was really cute and worth sharing.
We used to have bunk beds in JoAnn's room along with a crib, which if we had normal sized rooms would not be a big deal at all. However, her room is pretty small, so with the bunk beds and the crib we only had about a two foot aisle that ran down the middle of her room. Over the weekend we got rid of the bunk beds and now there is a lot more space and JoAnn loves playing with all of the toys we moved from the living room to her room. So the other day Daniel and I were talking and she was playing in her room by herself for a while. A couple minutes after she came back in where we were Daniel looked at me and asked, "Did you put that on her?" I just stared at him blankly trying to figure out what he was talking about. Then I looked down. She had one of her Crocs on and it was on the wrong foot. Somehow, she must have found it and managed to put it on herself.

She was so excited about the fuss that Daniel and I were making over the fact she put her own shoe on that it took several attempts to get a picture where you could see her foot. I had to use the fan to distract her long enough to snap a picture.

This week we also started doing what Daniel refers to as the "Lunch Club" at the Arthur Center. Every weekday he is having someone cook up a big batch of food and if you need it, you can come eat. (I refer to it as a soup kitchen.) JoAnn and I went over on Monday which was the first day and I must admit it was a little surprising that the first 45 minutes or so of serving food we only saw about 15-20 people. I wasn't really discouraged, but more surprised. It usually seems like we have a lot more than that show up when we do other things and serve food. Then about an hour after we got home, Daniel got a text from our pastor saying that we ending up feeding 82 people. I guess after we left a bunch of kids came in and ate. I still am not sure how the amount of food we made fed that many people.

Yesterday, I was talking to one our friends who has a feeding program for kids in another area of town and since they got the food from the container, they decided to start a secondf eeding program in a village that is next to the one they work in now. I guess on the first day somewhere in the ballpark of 180 kids showed up wanting food. They weren't able to serve everyone that came, but what a blessing to be part of a program that is so needed. I think the craziest part about that feeding program is the lady they are getting to cook the food cooks over a fire. Can you imagine cooking for 180 kids over a fire pit?!

This Week in Review

I actually wrote this out yesterday, but when I went to add the pictures our internet went out again. Finally today it seems to be working...at least for the last couple hours.

On Sunday morning before church, Daniel left early to go pick up a friend from the US that was in town for a few days and was going to church with us. So, while Daniel was picking up Keith it was just JoAnn and I at home. That meant while I was getting ready, she was left to entertain herself for a few minutes. Right when I was ready to pick her up and walk out the door she came around the corner looking like this....

Somehow she managed to get into our dirty laundry and put my shirt on. I could not stop laughing and tried desperately to get the camera in time to take a picture. Then of course right after I snapped the picture the shirt got caught under her feet and Jo went flying. She managed to land right on her mouth and her tooth cut open her lip. It was the first time that she had any real blood from hurting herself and I was freaked out. All I kept thinking was, "Of course this would happen when Daniel was gone." Then after a few seconds I got my clear head back and was able to actually look at it and see that it was fine, she would just end up with a fat lip. So, I grabbed a piece of ice for her to suck on and headed out the door to meet up with Daniel and Keith.

A couple minutes after we got in the car Daniel said that he was going to take Keith to see Kirk play basketball and wanted to know if JoAnn and I would like to join them. I thought it would be so much fun to take JoAnn to her first basketball game. So that afternoon we all went to the game. JoAnn was really quiet the whole time, but loved playing with Keith and dancing to the drums.

Then on Monday, I took JoAnn with a few other women for her first shopping trip to Greenhills. It has been over a year since I had been and I love to go even if I don't buy anything. It is a huge indoor market where they sell everything from clothes to purses to shoes to pearls to whatever else you can think of. So, I dusted off the stroller and we went shopping. One of the big things that was everywhere were the Crocs. They had just about every style and color that you could think of, so when I saw the smallest cutest pink pair I couldn't resist. They are a little big still, but I think they are so cute. You wouldn't be able to tell from her face in the picture but she really likes them.

Last thing, I just have to do a little Man U promotion here...

Daniel thought it would be cute to put one of his soccer jerseys on JoAnn and I just liked the fact that it was from the all time best soccer team.

YEAH!!!!

Okay, so I am a little frustrated with the internet right now. There is something wrong with our service provider again and the only website we can access is Yahoo! I don't understand it and I am trying hard to be thankful that we have a computer and the internet at all. It is a little difficult to walk down the hall and have our neighbor's internet working perfect and still be happy, though. So, to sum it up I don't have any pictures to put up right now because I am borrowing a computer. I do have a couple cute stories that when our internet is working better I will put up. Let's just say JoAnn is getting cuter every day. The one thing I wanted to share my excitement about though, is that Daniel's parents are coming to visit! Well, that deserves a few more "!!!!!" I can't wait, it is sort of last minute, but as of right now they are coming in a few weeks to see the Arthur Center and help Daniel sort through all of his ideas about what to do with the food that was on the container. I seriously can't wait. I love the fact that JoAnn will be able to spend some time with Grandma and Grandpa. I do wish it could be everyone that we miss coming to see us, but I will take what I can get and be utterly excited. So, hopefully you will hear more from me soon. (Please pray either for my patience or that the internet will get fixed, or better yet, both.)

Bathtime Fun

The other night Daniel was gone while I was trying to give JoAnn a bath and I decided to be a little adventurous. There seems to be no such thing as a bath tub in the Philippines (I know they are around, but other than at a hotel, I have only seen one). So with a toddler you have to get creative at times. I have an infant tub that we usually use, but JoAnn's knees are pretty much in her face when we use it now and I have also tried just giving her a shower, but she really likes to splash in the water and you just can't do that in a shower. My other option is a big round bucket that is usually used to handwash clothes. The reason why I say I decided to be adventurous is because I have used it once in the past to give JoAnn a bath and in the amount of time it took me to turn around to grab her towel, she managed to climb out of the tub, out of the shower and was throwing her toys in the toilet about to go in after them. So, with that in mind, with the exception of her diaper I got her ready and everything out before I even filled the tub. Well, the smart little girl that we have must have figured out it was bath time because I only had it half way full before, diaper and all, she managed to crawl inside the tub and start playing with her toys. I wish I could find something that she can't get in and out of so easily.

It has arrived

So, after our pastor went down to the docks to get the container yesterday we found out that even though he was able to get it released around 3 pm, the trucks aren't allowed to be on the roads until after 8 pm or something like that. I don't really have any idea why. Poor Better had to sit down there with basically nothing to do for almost five hours. But they left as soon as they were able to and made it back to us around 11 pm. Since it was so late, Daniel graciously let JoAnn and I stay at home and get some sleep while he and some other men unloaded the truck. I haven't seen all of it, but from what I have been able to see it seems like we will be able to feed many people with this food and we are so grateful for everything that God has provided for us. It is really amazing how much food can fit in one 20 foot container. Here are a few pictures from Daniel and the others unloading the truck last night.
